The Civil Guard of Lanzarote arrested on July 13 a person as the author of a drug trafficking crime after being caught with 50 hashish acorns. According to a statement issued by the Benemérita, the detainee is 42 years old and was caught with 23 acorns of this drug among his belongings, hidden in his clothes, while the rest he had ingested.
To corroborate that the rest of the narcotic substances were in his organism, he was subjected to an X-ray diagnostic test at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife.
Actions aimed at preventing drug trafficking and dealing
The Civil Guard, in the exercise of its functions for the prevention of drug consumption in the town of Costa Teguise, identified a person who was leaving a complex of Luxury Villas, being able to verify how this person was carrying in one of his hands what appeared to be a cigarette manufactured with some type of substance.
In order to carry out the appropriate checks, the Civil Guard requested to review the contents of his belongings, the detainee responding with evasive answers and refusing to show the requested belongings.
This led to a superficial search of the person, finding in one of his pockets a transparent plastic bag containing 24 acorns of what appeared to be hashish.
Arrest and performance of diagnostic tests
Immediately the Civil Guard proceeded to his arrest, and once in the dependencies of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, the determination was made to transfer him to the Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital center and given the doubt that he could carry more narcotic substances, a place where the health personnel performed the pertinent diagnostic tests, detecting another 26 acorns in the intestinal tract, so sanitary measures were taken in order to expel all the acorns he was carrying.
The destination of the drug, the Tahiche penitentiary center
According to the Civil Guard, it is a circumstance that the detainee "spontaneously stated" that the disposition of the drug in his belongings and his organism was due to the fact that his intention was to try to introduce them into the Tahíche Penitentiary Center, after a few days of leave and to which he was going for his re-entry since he is an inmate of the same.
After the return of the detainee to the Costa Teguise barracks for the continuation of the initiated proceedings, a total of 50 acorns are seized, weighing approximately 575 grams of hashish, with the Civil Guard preventing not only the drug trafficking of this type of substance but also the dealing in a penitentiary center in which its value had tripled.
The detainee, the seized substance and the instructed proceedings were placed at the judicial disposal of the Investigating Court No. 3 in functions of Guard of the Judicial District of Arrecife.
