The National Police have arrested a woman in Santa Cruz de Tenerife whom they accuse of numerous scams consisting of advertising fake apartment rentals, charging her victims for the reservation, and giving them a key that did not correspond to the property in question.
The amount defrauded exceeds 10,000 euros, although the officers in charge of the investigation estimate that the figure could be higher, as a "large number" of victims may not have filed a complaint, according to sources from the provincial police station.
The investigation dates back to December 2024 when the Police received several fraud complaints that had a common denominator: a woman advertised supposed apartments for rent on real estate portals and digital platforms, and subsequently met in person with potential victims.
In the meeting, he would show them a video of the property on offer and carry out the signing of a fake contract, after which he would request a sum of money in cash as a deposit and reservation fee.
Once the agreed sum was received, the detainee handed the victims a key to the supposed dwelling. When they went to the address provided, they discovered they had been deceived.
Subsequently, the investigated party would block any communication channelsThe woman, aware that she was being sought by both the Courts and the National Police, employed **self-protection measures** in order to avoid being located
This forced the deployment of a police operation that ended with his arrest and subsequent handover to the judicial authority, which ordered his imprisonment.
