The National Police, in a joint operation with the Irish police, has arrested in the town of Tías one of the leaders of the criminal organization 'Hutch', considered by the Dublin authorities as one of the most dangerous organized crime structures in Ireland.

Precisely, in October 2024, the head of this mafia, Gerard Hutch, known as 'The Monk', was also arrested in Lanzarote, along with eight other people accused of drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering.

The General Directorate of the Police indicates that the person arrested this Wednesday is at the top of the 'Hutch' as one of the leaders of the criminal organization's intelligence cell, in addition to directing money movements with his father.

His arrest took place just 24 hours after a European arrest warrant was issued by Ireland and after police officers from that country, the Irish Guard, traveled to Spain to collaborate in the operation.

The Irish criminal organization 'Hutch' is built around strong intergenerational family ties and close relationships in the city of Dublin.

It is involved in several criminal activities and since 2016 has maintained a rivalry with another clan, the 'Kinahan', a confrontation that has left 18 fatalities to date, most of them on the Hutch side.

The conflict intensified after several murders, including that of Gary Patrick Hutch in Mijas (Málaga) in 2015, nephew of 'The Monk'.

This crime triggered reprisals with new homicides between February and August 2016, including that of the Dublin gangster's own brother, who was released on 100,000 euros bail by an Arrecife court months after his arrest.
