The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Morro Jable (Fuerteventura) has arrested two men, aged 34 and 21, as alleged perpetrators of a robbery with violence and intimidation that occurred on April 16 in Morro Jable, where they attempted to steal a Rolex watch valued at 32,000 euros.

In addition, one of the detainees is also charged with a theft crime committed in Caleta de Fuste on April 11.

The Civil Guard became aware of a serious incident after receiving a notice from the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES), reporting the assault suffered by two people, who were attacked with a large machete during an attempted robbery.

As a result of the assault, both victims were injured and were transferred to the Morro Jable Health Center for assistance.

Civil Guard officers and health emergency services were dispatched to the scene. The seriousness of the events and the use of a bladed weapon generated a subjective feeling of insecurity.

The Investigation Area of the Main Post of Morro Jable immediately initiated police investigations, analyzing the information and documentation collected to clarify what happened.

The investigators were able to prove that the perpetrators had followed the victims to a sparsely populated area. At that moment, one of the aggressors hid his face with the hood of a raincoat to make identification difficult and, immediately afterwards, violently attacked the victims with the machete.

Once confirmed how and where the events occurred, and thanks to the rapid action and coordination of the various Civil Guard units on the island, the two responsible parties were identified. An operational device was carried out that culminated in the arrest of one of those involved in Morro Jable (Pájara) and the second in Caleta de Fuste (Antigua). In addition, the intervention made it possible to recover the machete used in the aggression.

The Civil Guard continues working to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors, reinforcing its commitment to citizen protection on the island. The detainees, together with the proceedings instructed for this purpose, were placed at the disposal of the Duty Court of Puerto del Rosario.
