The Local Police of Yaiza arrested a 40-year-old man last Saturday in Playa Blanca after detecting his reckless driving and verifying that the vehicle with which he fled was loaded with 80 labeled products of dubious origin.

The agents assure that the subject who fled and tested positive for cocaine in the drug detection test, was brought to justice, confirming the Civil Guard that the investigated had a current search and capture order.

The events happened around 8:00 p.m. when the offender was driving at high speed and overtaking in a continuous line on the central Avenida Papagayo at the height of the playground, where a couple of Local Police officers were carrying out their foot patrol service.

The agents ordered the driver to stop, but as he started the march, the police collected the numbering of the license plate, make and color of the car to alert the rest of the units. The vehicle was located in Calle Correíllo about fifteen minutes later, although there the man tried to escape again, repeating his reckless driving, until, cornered by the police chase, he crashed the vehicle against a stone wall near the roundabout of the Mediterranean Park.

The man, born in Gran Canaria and resident in Fuerteventura, ran away but the police managed to reach him in a nearby street to arrest him, take him to police stations, where he was given the alcohol and drug test, and immediately make him available to the courts.

Among the recovered items are food processors, vacuum cleaners, perfumes, bottles of liquor, clothing and shoes. The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, values the success of this action by the Local Police and appreciates the work carried out by the chief officer and the agents these days of the Christmas and Kings season in which the municipality has reinforced surveillance in the areas with the highest circulation of vehicles and pedestrians.
