The Civil Guard of the Fiscal Detachment of the Lanzarote Airport, in collaboration with members of the Adjunct Customs Directorate, has proceeded to arrest a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health in its form of drug trafficking, for trying to introduce 683 grams of heroin into the island.
The events occurred during a prevention service in fiscal and criminal matters, when the Civil Guard officers noticed "the unusual degree of nervousness shown by a passenger." Then they proceeded to stop the suspect in the arrivals hall, who was coming from a flight from Brussels.
The man was transferred to the Arrecife Hospital, where after confirming through a series of medical tests that he had foreign elements inside his body, he was admitted until his complete expulsion. In total, he had 60 packets of heroin in his digestive system, according to subsequent analyzes.
The detainee was sent to provisional prison by order of the Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife.
