Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife had to intervene due to a fight between about ten young people in Simón Bolívar square, as La Voz has been able to learn from eyewitnesses.

The altercation occurred this Friday, September 4, around 9:30 p.m., when the youths began to fight. The situation progressively escalated in tension, with shouts, reproaches, threats of aggression, and continuous insults among the young people involved, while the number of people gathering around the altercation increased.

In the midst of the argument, an adult entered the park on a motorcycle, and according to witnesses, the man allegedly intervened in defense of a minor. However, his presence did not manage to end the tension. The reproaches and verbal confrontations continued while the concentration of young people and citizens made the seriousness of the situation increasingly evident.

The arrival of the Local Police of Arrecife allowed them to intervene in the conflict. The agents gathered testimonies from some of the people present and made various requests to the motorcycle driver. For now, it is unknown if there have been any arrests or sanctions.

Neighborhood Complaints

Recently, residents of the area had reported that this space is full of garbage, is an area for drug and alcohol consumption, and for behaviors that were causing concern among those who live or regularly pass through the area.

The new incident brings to the forefront, once again, the concern for coexistence and safety in a public space whose situation had already been brought to public attention.
