National Police agents have arrested a 46-year-old man from Guinea Bissau at Lanzarote airport as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime. He arrived on the island on a flight from Madrid, arousing the suspicions of police officers, who were able to verify by means of radiological tests that he was carrying what could be cocaine inside his body.
The Police remind that they have been carrying out periodic controls on the so-called "hot flights", which are used as a regular route by mules who try to introduce drugs on the island.
It was in one of them where they identified this man, later verifying that he was transporting cocaine hidden inside his digestive system. Specifically, 86 pellets that ultimately yielded a weight of 1,175 grams.
The traveler was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, which ordered his immediate imprisonment.
The Police emphasize that it is the tenth mule they have arrested at the César Manrique airport in Lanzarote so far this year.
