An inmate of the Tahíche prison had to be isolated last Sunday after flooding his cell with soap and water. This was stated by the director of the Lanzarote prison, Francisco José Baldonedo, in statements to La Voz this Friday at noon.

Baldonedo denies that there has been an attempted aggression or threats against officials of the penitentiary institution by an inmate last weekend, as the first reports indicated, and assures that it was only a prisoner with drug addiction problems who had generated a debt with his module colleagues and wanted to get out of the place at all costs.

The prisoner was in module three, one of the most conflictive precincts of the penitentiary center. According to what they say from the Tahíche prison to La Voz, he was transferred to isolation after several attempts to be changed from the module.

Although the institution confirms that the inmate flooded the cell, they deny that he threatened prison officials with an awl and a stick.
