An elderly man was injured this Friday with burns after his home on Chafarí street, in Costa Teguise, caught fire, according to the Consortium of Emergencies.
After being alerted by a private citizen, emergency services quickly headed to the scene. Once there, firefighters confirmed that the fire was located in the kitchen of the home and was practically extinguished.
The personnel confirmed that the person who lived in that home, an elderly gentleman, had signs of having inhaled smoke and, in addition, suffered burns to his face.
The firefighters carried out a temperature check of the kitchen and finished cooling with water part of the furniture affected by the fire.
After this, they recommended that the injured person be evacuated by health personnel. Although at first he refused to go to the hospital by ambulance, he finally went to a health center with a relative.
After carrying out a final assessment of the area affected by the fire and confirming that the temperature had decreased, the personnel declared the service finished.
