A portable air conditioning unit started a fire in a home in Playa Blanca, in Lanzarote. According to the Consortium of Security and Emergencies, the fire occurred around 03:25 on Tuesday morning, on Austria street, in the coastal town of Yaiza.
The alert given by the Coordination Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 reported that the fire had occurred in one of the abandoned houses in Faro Pechiguera.
The Local Police of Yaiza guided the firefighters to the affected house and reported that all the people in the house were outside. Upon the firefighters' arrival, the fire, which originated in one of the rooms, had been controlled by one of the residents.
After inspecting the affected area, the firefighters confirmed that the fire had possibly started in a portable air conditioning unit, which was completely destroyed, and the rest of the house was affected by smoke.
After ventilating the house, the firefighters recommended that the family not spend the night in the house until cleaning and decontamination are carried out. The Civil Guard and SUC also attended the scene.
