The owner of a small supermarket in Arrecife suffered a robbery last Sunday night. A man, about "1.75 meters tall", entered the store with a knife "of great dimensions" and a "surgical mask" on to take the money from the cash register, the victim has revealed to La Voz. The thief, who arrived at the establishment around 9:47 p.m., took "about 250 euros" from the day's earnings and "another 150 euros" from the fund, the woman added.
The man arrived at the store and pounced on her. "He put the knife on my left side, at waist level," the owner explained about how the events unfolded. Then, the thief asked her to give him all the money. "I had to open the cash register and give it to him," she told the newspaper.
The robber's attire is what caught the attention of the owner of the premises. "He was wearing two jackets and a black cap" to avoid being recognized, she clarified. In addition, his attitude did not go unnoticed by her. "He was nervous and trembling," she acknowledged.
After getting the cash, the robber left the premises "in a hurry" and "fled down the street," she pointed out. At that moment, the worker "could not follow him," she recalled. After recovering from the shock, she called 1-1-2.
Shortly after, the woman reported the events to the National Police, but did not go to the hospital to receive psychological attention after the event. "I had to reopen the store afterwards, just on Monday at noon." During Monday morning, the National Police went to the establishment to continue with the investigation.
The woman was able to identify the thief after seeing a photograph provided by the agents. "It was him without a doubt," she declared in the complaint filed that Sunday. According to what the affected person has learned, the man committed another robbery on Saturday in another store in the capital. Apparently, according to the victim's testimony, in the previous robbery, "he assaulted the clerk and the owner came to her defense, ending up injured after the struggle," she pointed out to the media.
Finally, the affected person wanted to denounce that the works placed in front of her establishment "make it impossible" to ask for "help." "Because of the works I have in front of the store, no one sees me if something like this happens to me again," she concluded.
