A prisoner from the Tahíche prison, who was serving a sentence in the third degree regime at the Social Integration Center, escaped on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 2, from the penitentiary center, as confirmed to La Voz by union sources from the prison.
According to these same sources, although the inmate could leave the prison during the day as he was in a semi-liberty regime, he chose to escape when he was inside, apparently by jumping over a wall. The reason would be that a new sentence had fallen on him for another judicial case that he had pending and that he had to begin to serve.
In this regard, one of the unions represented in the prison explains that there is a protocol to avoid escapes in this type of case, but they point out that it was not activated because the new sentence had not yet been notified to the prison officials.
In addition, they have pointed out that the inmate escaped through a place "where there is an area of trees that prevent vision" and where "the security cameras do not work very well".
