The Local Police and a security agent from a sports establishment in the Argana Alta neighborhood of Arrecife, have rescued a 29-year-old man from inside one of the water treatment tanks after he fell into it while trying to capture images of local birds, the capital's City Council reported this Friday.

In a statement, the City Council explained that the incident occurred last Wednesday and it was the watchman who heard the cries for help coming from the area of some tanks of the treatment plant in the industrial area and alerted 112.

Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife, belonging to the Citizen Attention Operational Group (GOAC), arrived at the scene and helped the man.

According to police proceedings, which the note alludes to, the man had been trying to stay afloat for almost five hours since his fall, clinging to a plastic tube, and showed signs of hypothermia, weakness and difficulty communicating.

The City Council has detailed that the height of the edge of the tank to the water level was approximately two meters and that the depth was between two and three meters.

The agents of the Local Police used the same tube that he clung to to raise the individual and remove him from the tank, after which he was transferred to the General Hospital of Lanzarote, where he received medical attention
