A man in critical condition after suffering a choking in a restaurant in Lanzarote

Health personnel managed to recover the man from a cardiorespiratory arrest and transferred him by ambulance to Molina Orosa

The Canary Emergency Service (SUC) successfully recovered a 56-year-old man who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest after choking in a restaurant in Puerto del Carmen, municipality of Tías. The incident occurred on February 1, 2025 at 2:45 p.m., when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting the situation.

The health personnel, together with a nurse in the operating room, provided teleassistance instructions to the establishment's personnel to initiate basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers. Upon arriving at the scene, the emergency teams confirmed that the patient was still in cardiorespiratory arrest and proceeded to perform advanced maneuvers, managing to recover his pulse.

The man was stabilized and transferred in critical condition in a medicalized ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital. The Local Police actively collaborated with the health services during the intervention.
