The Civil Guard has dismantled a drug sales point, located in a cannabis association in Puerto del Carmen. As part of this operation, the Armed Institute arrested three people, aged between 37 and 43, on March 9.

All the detainees had a record of a crime against public health and drug trafficking, as reported by the Benemérita in a statement.

The drug point was camouflaged as a cannabis smoking club, the Civil Guard said in a note. In this same association, 740 grams of marijuana of different varieties, 28 bags of marijuana, 220 grams of hashish and cash were seized.

The investigation has been carried out since January 2023 between the Armed Institute and the Arrecife Prosecutor's Office in a battle against drug trafficking. In addition to different units of the Civil Guard, members of the Local Police of Tías have collaborated.

The Civil Guard has insisted that this type of association is dedicated to supplying its members with narcotic substances to be consumed inside. "The investigated took advantage of the supposed legality of the premises to establish a retail drug point".

In addition, the target audience of this allegedly illicit point of sale were international tourists who spent their holidays on the island. "They bought the substance and quickly left the vicinity".

The detainees and the proceedings carried out by the Civil Guard were placed at the disposal of the Arrecife Duty Court. For the moment, as a precautionary measure, the premises are closed and sealed. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
