The investigation of the Local Police of Arrecife has allowed to locate and dismantle a drug den that had been created in the vicinity of the old salt mines in Puerto de Naos, in the capital of Lanzarote.
The presence of camouflaged cars of the Local Police has made possible a line of investigation for the monitoring and identification of this new point used as a smoking den. It was created with wooden structures on the old salt mines near the port area.
The Local Police was investigating the 'circuits' used for drug dealing and consumption, which has allowed the closure of seven smoking dens.
The police action took place last week, and the structures have been dismantled and removed. The Mayor's Office incorporated these cars within the improvements with which it "has provided the police force".
Arrecife combats drug dens
The City Council of Arrecife has promoted the closure of these places destined by drug addicts for drug consumption, and in other cases, to drug dealing. By order of the mayor, the Local Police of Arrecife, in the face of alerts from residents, has a line of investigation that is allowing these dismantling.
These months ago, the mayor of Arrecife has ordered the closure of three properties used as 'drug dens'. Two of them houses (Argana and the city center) and a garage in the neighborhood of Maneje. To which recently joined two in the area of Las Rapaduras, and another in the vicinity of Pedro Alcántara square, in the urban center area of the city. These smoking dens were located in buildings that registered situations of insecurity and unsanitary conditions.
To these closures, are added the latest evictions decreed by the City Council in different areas of La Vega, Argana, La Destila, and Cienfuegos street, which after being walled up was cleaned up its facade.
Yonathan de León "wants the families of Arrecife to know that as mayor I will continue working to ensure that the city is safe, that young people can have more protected environments, free of drugs, and that neighbors can live without the violence of squatters or the drug dealing of some".
The mayor reaffirms, as directly responsible for the Local Police, in continuing to pursue these places used in the capital as places of drug consumption.
