The presence of a drone in restricted airspace has forced an Iberia Express plane to be diverted to the César Manrique Airport in Lanzarote. The events date back to noon this past Saturday, when the aircraft was traveling to Fuerteventura.

This is flight IBS9906, which was arriving from Madrid to the island of Majorera and encountered this device in the air. For security reasons, it had to land at the airport on the neighboring island.

This is not the first time a drone has blocked the airspace of a Canary Island airport and forced flights to be diverted. It already happened last April at Gran Canaria Airport, where 12 crossings had to be rerouted and two flights to Lanzarote were canceled.

Fines for this type of action can range from 60 euros for less serious cases, up to 225,000 for the most serious. In the case of individuals, it will be around 90,000 euros.
