A Cabildo bus has been trapped, as the road it was traveling on collapsed in Argana Alta, in Arrecife. The incident occurred this Wednesday at around 8:30 a.m., when this vehicle, which was transporting users of the Association of People with Disabilities in Lanzarote (Adislan), became stuck when a large sinkhole formed.
Apparently, everything happened due to a fault in the underground pipeline. "The ground began to soften and when the bus passed, the sinkhole formed and it got trapped," the Councilor for Transport of the Arrecife City Council, Víctor Sanginés, explained to La Voz.
Some residents have contacted La Voz to complain about the "traffic chaos", since Tenderete street has been closed at the height of the fire station in a section of about 300 meters "for security", and because of how long it took the Local Police to arrive at the scene.
At 9:45 a.m., the bus was still in the area, trapped in the sinkhole. "It has not been possible to remove it yet, we are waiting for the crane," Sanginés indicated. The Adislan users, who have not suffered any damage in this incident, have been transferred in another Cabildo bus.
In addition to the Local Police, firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, and personnel from the Arrecife City Council and Canal Gestión have also been transferred to the area.
