A Belgian surfer residing in Lanzarote dies in Famara

Lifeguards found the athlete's body floating, along with his broken surfboard and a strong blow to the face

The Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies has reported the death of a surfer in Famara this Wednesday. The 59-year-old man was a resident of Lanzarote but of Belgian nationality.

Lifeguards found the athlete's body floating, along with his broken surfboard and a strong blow to the face, as announced by CECOES. After finding the body, they took the surfer out of the water, performed CPR, but were unable to revive him.

The news of the death was transferred to CECOES by the beach lifeguards and local police officers. Civil Guard agents also traveled to the beach.

The police services took charge of the corresponding procedures.
