A 72-year-old British hiker has died this Sunday in the south of Lanzarote after suffering a fall, as reported by 112 in a statement. The incident occurred at 10.12 hours in the Montaña Roja area, in the town of Playa Blanca.

After falling, the victim became unconscious in an area difficult to access by land, where his companions began to perform resuscitation maneuvers upon finding that he was suffering from cardiorespiratory arrest.

A GES helicopter was transferred to the area, which was responsible for rescuing the affected person and transferring him to a helipad near the Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife. There, the staff of a SUC medicalized ambulance continued with his assistance, although they could only confirm the death of the victim.

The Civil Guard has taken charge of the judicial proceedings.
