A 70-year-old man has died by drowning this Tuesday on Guacimeta beach in Playa Honda, as reported by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes)
The swimmer was pulled from the sea in cardiorespiratory arrest after disappearing in the sea on Guacimeta beach, between Playa Honda and Matagorda, and after being located by windsurfers about 400 meters from the shore around 5:00 p.m.
The man was transferred in a rescue boat to the Arrecife dock, where he arrived in cardiorespiratory arrest.
Personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service performed basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without result, so the death of the victim has been confirmed.
The Civil Guard has initiated the corresponding proceedings, while the Local Police has collaborated with the rest of the resources.
