The municipality of Yaiza becomes, from Thursday, April 27 to Sunday, April 30, the epicenter of literature in Lanzarote, also looking at the world and the Canary Islands, with the celebration of the Book Fair, which pays tribute on this occasion to the renowned writer from Tenerife, Rafael Arozarena, on the first centenary of his birth and the half-century of the publication of his masterpiece, Mararía, the City Council advances. To elaborate on the recognition, the Plaza de Los Remedios and the Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas, in Yaiza, are the chosen scenarios for its celebration. A program has been built in which "there will be no shortage of new releases, bookstore stands and publishers, with a 10% discount on regular prices, the autograph booth, children's and youth activities, school visits, theater and music" throughout an intense weekend, they advance from the Consistory.
The opening of the fair will begin next Thursday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m., with a dance and poetry show and the institutional act of naming Arozarena as Adopted Son of Yaiza. The main book presentation room will also bear his name, along with the Mararía and Alexis Ravelo spaces, they say.
In addition, part of the activity of the Book Fair has focused on book presentations, with the presence of leading figures in national, international and island literary creation.
Among the highlights of the event is the intervention of the Colombian writer Héctor Abad, who will share with the public the ins and outs of his second novel, 'Except for the heart, everything is fine', they announce. And then, the Brazilian journalist Ricardo Viel will join the conversation, who in his compilation of interviews 'Flight Simulators', has dedicated a chapter to the author of 'Oblivion We Shall Be'.

Other national media professionals who will pass through the fair are Marta Robles, with her essay 'What Spring Does with Cherry Trees' and Jesús Cintora, who will talk about his latest work on the evolution of Spanish politics 'They Don't Want You to Know'.
The multi-award winning César Bona, teacher and expert in emotional and values education, will also visit the island, who will present his work 'Sustainable Education', they confirm.
From among the abundant production of musical literature titles, the Fair has selected 'In the Presence of Battiato', by Eduardo Laporte, a biography of an artist who achieved the squaring of the circle by becoming a successful popular singer and cult performer.
And as a representative of personal orientation and self-help literature, the coaching expert, Ana Albiol, will attend the meeting to present 'To Death with Life', they announce.
Also participating is the rapper Imane Raissali Salah, Miss Raisa, who presents her essay 'Because I Feel Like It' and offers a concert on the same day; and the comedian Joaquín Reyes, who will talk about his first novel, 'High', and will take the show 'Monologues of Chichinabo' to Jameos del Agua (Tickets at www.catctlanzarote.com).
The audiovisual chapter will feature the screening of the documentary 'Sanmao. Life is the Journey', by the filmmaker María Jesús Alvarado, also present at the writers' table.
In addition, already in the purely musical field, the program is completed with the performances, on Saturday, of Amparo Sánchez, leader of the band "Amparanoia", and the group "Alberto y García". The show 'Emocionario, the musical', will put the finishing touch to the offer of concerts.
For his part, Manel Ruiz, El Especialista, will be in charge of informing, remembering the events and putting the musical backdrop to all the activities of the fair.

Literary genres will also have their place, through the organization of two thematic tables, one dedicated to mystery, with the intervention of the writers Carlos Méndez, Miguel Aguerralde and Eduardo Yunta, and another, of authors, with Marta Robles, Ana Requena, Elsa López and María Jesús Alvarado.
The children's and youth audiences will have their own spaces, "Fieritas" and "Indomables", where they can enjoy a specific range of activities for their ages and tastes. For the former, there will be a toy library during the days of Saturday and Sunday, wooden games, workshops, and shows by the company "Entropías imposibles".
The young reading public will be able to enjoy in the "Indomables" tent the horror catalog of "Apocalipsis eventos", character creation workshops by the illustrator Pablo Carreiro and throughout the fair hours, the offer of "La Gruta del Goblin" (comics, anime, manga), "Vulcacomics" (video games, board games) and "La legión perdida" (Recreational Association of board games, role and strategy).

La Fiera del Libro will host the stands of the bookstores "El Puente", "Fajardo", "Diama" and "La Madriguera" and of the publishers "Fórmula Creativa" "7 Islas"; "Ediciones Remotas"; "Itineraria; "Cetro" and "La Palma". It will also have an exhibition and sales tent for the Cesar Manrique Foundation and there will be specific information, signing and work spaces for the media.
