Last Saturday afternoon, the municipality of Yaiza was filled with life and color with the traditional pilgrimage in honor of the Patron Saint Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. From the vicinity of the football field to the main square, neighbors and visitors joined in a lively parade led by the Parranda Marinera de Buches and its emblematic boat El Volador, captained by the master shipwright Agustín Jordán.

The pilgrimage was headed by the parish priest of Yaiza. Yonathan Almeida, the Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, the Councilor for Culture and Festivals, Daniel Medina, and other members of the municipal corporation. Throughout the tour, music and dance did not stop thanks to the participation of the Agrupación Folclórica Rubicón who did not stop singing and dancing throughout the tour sharing with their neighbors the components of the Parranda de Janubio. Los Labradores de Lanzarote, very animated, gave it all with their popular and festive songs, the Grupo de Música Popular Guágaro and the Agrupación Folclórica Gaida, both representatives of the municipality of Tías, contributed all their good work with their traditional songs and dances.

As in any self-respecting pilgrimage, there could not be a lack of carts decorated with palm trees pulled by donkeys, which were also joined by some camels and horses. In the pilgrimage, families and friends come together to prepare their carts such as the Machines de la Hoya, Amigos de la Huerta Vieja, Familia de la Cruz, neighbors of the Valle de Fenauso, the Elderly of Yaiza, Veredita de la Almurcia, Pedro Mariano, Jóvenes de Yaiza, Los de Siempre Gimnasio de Yaiza, Fran Mesa, La Aulaga among others. Throughout the tour there was no shortage of the exchange of traditional food in these celebrations such as sponge cake, gofio, roscos, mantecados, mimos, pejines and good wine from the southern area, Yaiza.

The folk groups, popular music groups and the Parrandas when they arrived next to the image of Los Remedios sang and danced the most representative of the Canary Islands, leaving next to his throne the offerings of non-perishable products destined for the most vulnerable families in the municipality. The parish priest Yonathan Almeida thanked all the pilgrims for their solidarity with those most in need.

After the offering, the election of the Magas and Magos 2024 took place, titles that fell to the Maga Mayor Tamara Carmona, Maga Infantil Carla Guadalupe, Mago Mayor Kevin Molina and the Mago Infantil Arai Guadalupe. And the winning float went to the Agrupación Folclórica Rubicón de Yaiza.
