Lanzarote will host the presentation of the book '1001, The struggle that illuminated democracy', the event will take place on Friday, the 31st, at 10:00 a.m. in the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua. An event that will include the participation of the writer and political activist Daniel Bernabé, and one of the co-authors of this work, the coordinator of the book, Bruno Estrada, the trade union activist and defendant in the 1001 judicial process, Francisco Acosta, the General Secretary of CCOO Canarias, Inocencio González. In addition, the General Secretary of CCOO, Unai Sordo, will attend a CCOO event in Lanzarote for the first time to offer a press conference with the media.

The book reflects the vision of the writers Natalia Junquera, Elvira Lindo, Pablo Ordaz, Alberto Sabio Alcutén and Daniel Bernabé on how the 'Process 1001' transformed their way of understanding the trade union movement. The harshness with which the Franco dictatorship wanted to exemplify the fall of the leaders of the labor movement in Spain, applying exorbitant prison sentences to the top of CCOO, the ten of Carabanchel, ended up turning the 'Process 1001' into a national and international symbol of the struggle for democracy and freedoms in Spain, said Vanesa Frahija, the General Secretary of CCOO Lanzarote, who will host such a notable event where, in addition to the presentation of the book, the documentary '10 for freedom' will be screened. The 'Process 1001 against the working class' is produced by CCOO and RTVE.

In this way, based on interviews with the protagonists of 1001, the authors recount their arrest, the trial that takes place on the same day as the assassination of Carrero Blanco and the life of the trade unionists in prison. But they also contextualize the moment, showing the repercussions that this event had on the labor movement, on the improvement of labor rights and on the anti-Franco struggle as a whole.

CCOO Lanzarote points out that this book seeks to "recognize and make visible the critical voice of women and their role in the trade union struggle" and also the "effort of anonymous trade unionists, trade unionists who dedicated their lives to the trade union struggle in search of a more just society, even when this could mean ending up in prison" like the protagonists of the book, "in Lanzarote we have a clear example of this sacrifice in the figure of our previous General Secretary in Lanzarote Ramón Pérez Farray", they recalled.

"From the union they indicate that there will be a prior press conference in which the General Secretary of Comisiones Obreras, Unai Sordo, will attend to the media at 9:30 in the morning in Los Jameos del Agua", before the start of the event, they also inform that attendance to the event must be by invitation that can be requested at the CCOO Lanzarote headquarters until full capacity.
