The auditorium of Jameos del Agua was the stage chosen by the Acatife Cultural Association to close the events programmed on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary.

The concert 'Ecos de mujer' put the finishing touch, a show difficult to forget for the public that supported the 34 members and the 15 women who for the first time in their four decades turned off the voices of the usual soloists of the group, becoming the protagonists very well accompanied by their members in the choruses and arrangements of some of the songs specially created for the occasion. All under the musical direction of Ito Hernández, José Antonio Elías in the vocal direction and with an impeccable staging, the work of Nahúm Cabrera.

The audience enjoyed a unique evening where the voices of the 15 participating women painted the black volcanic lava that covers the vault of the auditorium with colors. The Acatife Cultural Association was born in 1983 by some very excited and innovative young people on an island accustomed to traditional music and dances, traditions that have been respected throughout these 40 years, providing a rich content in each of their musical compositions, which have become chronicles, reflecting the events that have taken place in Lanzarote from the volcanic eruptions to the present day. Although they have also included other musical genres in their concerts such as bolero, guajira or son among others.

To carry out the concert 'Ecos de mujer', the management of Acatife, chaired by Carlos Hernández, decided to make a selection of some of the compositions recorded on their 8 albums which have become the soundtracks of many followers. Compositions such as Cruz del Mar, El Diablo de Timanfaya, Isa a las 8 Islas, Canto a La Villa or El rico y las Plañideras among others.

Special remembrance for Rosa Hernández, recently deceased

The show took place in a participatory atmosphere with a devoted audience that rewarded each of the soloists with their applause and at one point time stopped when the chords of a malagueña of three times were heard, the first two times sung by two soloists physically on stage and when suddenly in the third time the voice of Rosa Hernández was heard and her face reflected on the stage. Rosa, a young resident of Teseguite, who recently passed away, was part of the El Lagar de Teseguite group and at the end of her verse, the audience stood up and paid her a warm tribute with the longest of the applause that had sounded during the night under the vault of the auditorium.

'Ecos de Mujer' came to an end with the sounds of a seguidillas with the participation of the 15 participating soloists with an audience standing up asking them to continue, a request that was answered with the flag song that Acatife recorded on their first album entitled "Canto a la Tierra". The president of the council Olwaldo Betancort went on stage to congratulate them for the magnificent work carried out during these 40 years.
