The International Pocket Theater Festival (FITB) returns to the municipality of Tías with the participation of numerous companies that will offer free performances on October 16, 18 and 19 at the Municipal Theater. This year the Honorary Award of the contest will be given to the director Antonio Naharro.
Antonio Naharro, also an actor and screenwriter, has received two Goya Award nominations, one at the San Sebastián Festival and one at the Forqué Awards. His film Yo, también received 11 nominations and 5 awards, his short film Invulnerable won an award and his short film Uno más, uno menos received a nomination.
The Tías City Council, through the Department of Culture led by Pepa González, collaborates with this festival, which was already held in the municipality in 2023 with the participation of 13 companies and the tribute to Jesús Cimarro, founding member and honorary member of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain.
Pepa González points out that the International Pocket Theater Festival "is a unique opportunity to bring the performing arts closer to all audiences in Tías in a close, free and high-quality format." She adds that "we are very pleased to pay tribute this year to Antonio Naharro, an essential creator who has taken Spanish cinema and theater to the highest level."
The director of the FITB, Alexis Mendiola, recalls that this festival "was born from the love of the performing arts with the purpose of promoting and boosting emerging theater companies through microtheater and taking it to the best places in our geography."
The festival was held in Madrid for the first two years. Later, in 2022, it moved to San Cristóbal de la Laguna, in the Leal Theater, where the Honorary Award was given to the actress Gemma Cuervo. The Municipal Theater of Tías hosted it in 2023 with the tribute to Jesús Cimarro.
In this 2025 edition, in addition to the Honorary Award to director Antonio Naharro, the Dedication Award will be given to the author, actor and director Salvador Leal.
