Foosball, video games, reading corner, ping pong, board games and activities in El Pavón square. Tías already has a 'Youth Space' to "enjoy, share and respect", inaugurated on Friday by the top officials of the Tías City Council.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the councilor for Youth, Pepa González, led the inauguration of the youth headquarters in the urban area of Tías together with numerous young people from the municipality and colleagues from the government group.
"The urban center of Tías did not have a space for young people, so it was an unfinished business that we have been able to resolve. We are happy to see the large number of boys and girls who have come to this headquarters, which we have provided with resources and services that will be increased in the coming months," said the mayor.
Pepa González highlighted the "effort" carried out by the council to create an "attractive space with a vindictive mural" and with "suggestive resources" such as interactive games, Nintendo Switch, foosball or the reading corner.
After the inauguration ceremony, attendees were able to enjoy the Lanzarote DJ Ángel Pérez, who kept the energy of the environment high, along with the photo booth and 360-degree camera services to record panoramic videos. 'Conecta Tías' and 'Boluntis' collaborated in the event.
Hours and new resources
The Councilor for Youth explained that the 'Youth Space' keeps its doors open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., "a schedule that will be extended from the month of January, when we have the collaboration of different associations that work in the municipality."
Pepa González added that her department is working to install mobile goals and baskets outside the headquarters to offer moving games.
She recalled that the working students of the 'PFAE Dinamiza Tías' are creating about twenty popular games with paints on the ground, such as hopscotch or tic-tac-toe. These games are located on the pavement of the upper terrace of El Pavón square, next to the playground.
Calisthenics bars will also be placed in that area to promote physical exercise for young people and adults, and a road circuit for the little ones.
