Arrecife lived this Monday, February 16, one of the most anticipated days of Carnival with the celebration of the traditional parade, which brought together 35 floats, as well as murgas, comparsas, batucadas, and thousands of masked revelers who filled the streets of the Lanzarote capital with color, rhythm, and fantasy.

The parade kicked off around 6:00 PM from the Cruz Roja area, on Rambla Medular, advancing in a festive and family atmosphere until Avenida de Naos, near Agramar. During the route, residents and visitors crowded sidewalks and balconies to enjoy the spectacle, marked by the creativity of the costumes and the constant animation of the participating groups.

As a notable novelty in terms of inclusion, from Cruz Roja to the Ciudad Deportiva, a designated area was set up for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and auditory sensitivity. In this section, there was no music and strident noise was avoided, so that these people could also enjoy the event in the most suitable sensory environment possible, thus favoring an accessible Carnival for everyone.

From 8:00 PM onwards, the celebration continued with a musical space featuring the floats themselves on Avenida de Naos, while carnival festivals took over in different parts of the city. The maritime avenue in front of the City Hall, Plaza de Las Palmas, and Plaza del Almacén became stages for performances that kept the festive atmosphere going late into the night.

The musical lineup featured the participation of Grupo Son y Más, Frente Banda Nueva, Vocal Force, Dj Germán, Tío Matt, Tabaiba, Dj Javi Sánchez, Dj Falo, Morocho, Los Jarvac, Leyenda Joven and Dj Nandy, who set the rhythm for a night marked by high participation and a good atmosphere.

Carnival Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

The programming will continue this Tuesday with the Children's Carnavalito at the Fairgrounds from noon, which will include a costume contest in the individual, couple, and group categories, in addition to the show 'The Wonderful World of Drilo', aimed at the youngest audience.

In the afternoon, starting at 5:00 PM, the Charco de San Ginés will host a parade of the Traditional Carnival. At 7:00 PM, the Recinto Ferial will be the stage for a concert starring Miriam Cruz and Nueva Línea.

The Carnival thus faces its final days before the celebration of Ash Wednesday, maintaining the festive pulse that during these days has turned Arrecife into the epicenter of the island celebration.
