The urban music artist Saiko will perform at the first edition of the Lanzarote Summer Urban Fest, as La Voz had already announced. The singer of hits such as Supernova or Polaris, will headline a line-up that will feature the local talent of DJ Javi Fajardo, Uellboy and El Hijo de la Pepi, on August 30 in the parking lot on Islas Canarias Avenue in Costa Teguise

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Town Council of Teguise, has presented a new proposal linked to urban culture and the youth sector consisting of the celebration of a new musical event, the Lanzarote Summer Urban Fest, which will feature the participation of the singer Saiko, and will also serve to promote local artists from the Island.

Both institutions carried out this Wednesday, August 16, the presentation of this new initiative, which will be held on August 30 in the parking lot of Avenida Islas Canarias in Costa Teguise.

The event was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort; the vice president, Jacobo Medina; the Minister of Youth, Aroa Revelo; the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque; the Councilor for Youth, Javier Díaz, among other institutional representatives.

The president pointed out the importance of betting on the young people of Lanzarote in all possible sectors and disciplines, such as culture and music, and attending to the youth demand that wants to enjoy national and international artists, while betting on local talent.

“The purpose of this project is to enrich the cultural variety of the Island, revitalize areas of influence of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and provide young people with unique activities in festive and recreational environments”, Betancort pointed out, assuring that this youth offer will also be promoted in the rest of the municipalities of the Island.

In the same vein, Aroa Revelo detailed that the line-up, in addition to having international artists such as Saiko, will have local representatives such as DJ Javi Fajardo, Uellboy and El Hijo de la Pepi.

“We have artists of great talent who need a platform for exhibition at the level, and that is what we intend with this great event headed by Saiko, and to which we hope everyone will attend and enjoy the show”, stressed the councilor.

For her part, the mayor of Teguise, valued the choice of the municipality and, specifically, of the town of Costa Teguise, to host high-level events such as this and thanked the Cabildo for the joint work to make possible a festival that we hope will be a success and can be repeated in future editions”, she concluded.

Saiko, number 1 in Spain with Supernova

A new and young star of urban music is consolidating in our country, following in the wake of other phenomena such as Quevedo, and with his new song Supernova is sweeping in such a way that some already point out that it could be the song of the summer.

We are talking about the Granada artist Saiko, who with this song, released on April 19, has managed to be number one in Spain, and in just one month already accumulates 27 million plays on Spotify and more than six million views of the video clip on YouTube.

His real name is Miguel Cantos, and he is only 20 years old. He has been rapping since he was 14, looking for his own sound and trying to make a place for himself in the world of music. His official biography on Spotify details that in his music we can appreciate two aspects influenced by the two schools with which he has been raised, "a more aggressive trap resulting from American rappers and a more mellow reggaeton with which he does not stop innovating by merging it with various genres", adds the Cabildo in a statement.

Meanwhile, the local artist DJ Javi Fajardo is a resident in several nightclubs on the Island and a regular at popular festivals in Lanzarote, in addition to having a musical career outside the island.

El Hijo de la Pepi on Instagram, on YouTube, and on all digital platforms, also known as DELA-P, with only seven months in the world of music and five songs on YouTube, has already won the affection of the Island.

Uellboy is a 24-year-old born in Lanzarote who has been in the world of urban music for three years. “This started as a hobby and now my life revolves around it and I plan to continue working to fulfill a dream”, says the artist.
