In the old Villa de Teguise, where the stones hold centuries of stories and the air still smells of tradition, the family of the Agrupación Folclórica Virgen de Guadalupe once again demonstrated that the Christmas spirit is built with humble hands and big hearts. This year, as a gift shared with their town, they inaugurated their beloved Nativity Scene, a project born from the enthusiasm, patience, and affection of its members, many of them elderly individuals who have made folklore and community living a way of life.

For several days, the rehearsal space was transformed into a small artisan workshop. There, amidst laughter, memories, and cups of coffee, houses, stables, stars, and paths took shape, all handcrafted. As a touch of island identity and pride, they incorporated the black and reddish rofe and volcanic stone, materials that speak of the soul of Lanzarote. They even recreated with surprising fidelity the sculptural ensemble of "La Fecundidad," a work by the immortal César Manrique located at the Casa-Museo del Campesino, an artistic nod that honors the roots and the land that saw them grow

Each piece of the nativity scene tells a story: the skill of hands that have worked the land, the wisdom of those who learned to create without haste, the desire to give beauty without asking for anything in return. That is why, more than a stable, what they built was a symbol of unity, memory, and hope.

The Nativity Scene was installed next to the Group's headquarters, in front of the convent of San Francisco, in the very heart of the Villa's Historic Site. There, under the silent gaze of the ancient walls, this collective work shines with humility, transmitting the very essence of Christmas: sharing and celebrating life.

"He is modest, but full of enthusiasm," said the members of the Group's family, who, under the musical direction of Professor Javier Bravo, continue to demonstrate that true greatness lies not in grandeur, but in what is done with soul. And it is that, when older hands come together to create, not only nativity scenes are born; moments are born that will remain in the memory of the people, because they are made of experience, tenderness, and the sincere desire to pass on a legacy.

This Christmas, the Nativity Scene of the Virgen de Guadalupe Folk Group of Teguise will not only adorn a historic facade... it will also adorn the hearts of those who behold it, reminding us that illusion does not age: it is renewed, shared, and multiplied.
