The spectacular start starring this Friday in Agramar by the Arrecife Carnival 2025, with an original and emotional reading of the proclamation by seven representatives of the carnival groups and a Drag Gala that amazed the thousands of people gathered in the stands of the old canning factory, has had this Saturday continuity with the celebration of the Traditional Carnival by the emblematic Parranda de Los Buches, Gold Medal of the Canary Islands for its contribution to the cultural heritage of Arrecife and the entire Archipelago.

After disembarking at the Fishing Pier of the Lanzarote capital, the members of the Parranda Marinera, which included for the first time among its members the mayor and deputy mayor of the city, Yonathan de León and Echedey Eugenio respectively as special guests, starred in a colorful, boisterous and cheerful parade through the city, in which they took the opportunity to give more than one "buchazo" to those who were next to them, along with papahuevos and other characters and masked women refajadas with sheets and porteño outfits.

In addition, on the boat were Juan Antonio Machado, president of Los Buches, a lady representing the mascaritas de la  sábana, Ángel Diama, buchero master and Francisco José Navarro, guest of honor for being the first citizen to receive the Honorary Medal of the Parranda.

Among them was the popular presenter Francisco José Navarro, who upon arriving at the Casa Amarilla dedicated some beautiful words to the memory of José Borges, director of the Parranda Amigos de Portonao, who recently passed away at the age of 91. The mayor and deputy mayor of the Arrecife City Council also addressed the numerous people who gathered in Calle Real from the balcony of the old headquarters of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, who also had words of remembrance for the figure of José Borges.

In his speech, Yonathan de León was pleased with "the recovery of the Traditional Carnival of Arrecife, the essence of our coastal past" and recalled that "it is the second year that it has been celebrated after the municipal Government Group's commitment to recover the customs and traditions of the Port of Arrecife with the close collaboration of the Parranda Marinera de Los Buches, which the City Council supports to be declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity."

For his part, Echedey Eugenio highlighted the "beautiful image" offered on the morning of this Saturday by the Traditional Carnival of Arrecife "with Los Buches, the mascaritas, the refajos, the sheets and the papahuevos, who together with the rest of the usual characters of our Carnival make us feel proud of our traditions and our Canarian identity." Eugenio also stressed "the City Council's commitment to collaborate with Los Buches to preserve and encourage our traditions and support the enormous work of dissemination that they have started with the youngest."

Next, the delegation of the Traditional Carnival of Arrecife moved to the Plaza de Las Palmas, also known as the Plaza de la Iglesia de San Ginés, where the music corps of Los Buches proceeded by means of a waltz to the opening of the Baile de la Sábana, where the mascaritas dressed in the traditional way were treated to torrijas made by the members of the Parranda Marinera themselves.
