The third edition of the Verbena Literary Meeting kicks off this Tuesday at El Almacén, organized by the Culture area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

Throughout this week, citizens will be able to enjoy a wide cultural offer that will include different conversations between writers, book presentations, a poetry workshop and an exhibition. All the programming is free, without prior registration.

The Councilor for Youth, Aroa Revelo, expressed during the presentation that "in its third edition, Verbena is consolidated as one of the best literary meetings in the Canary Islands, betting on uniting and exploring ties between literature and relationships with the landscape, identity and family. This is a literary commitment that seeks not only intergenerational and cultural understanding, but also the exchange and enjoyment of letters."

For her part, the project manager, Lana Corujo, explained that "this edition of the meeting will be dedicated to investigating the relationship between human bonds and the landscape they inhabit, seeking to make reading a popular and festive claim, even if it is about contemporary discomforts."

In this event you can enjoy the literary voices of Ale Coello, Juli Mesa, María Limón, Alejandro Marín, Juanpe Sánchez López, Carlos Alayón, María de la Cruz and Beatriz Morales.

The party is for everyone

Under the conviction that literature can and should be a social act and joint creation, the first edition of this event was conceived in 2021, just after the confinement. With these, there are already three editions that have been held at El Almacén.

Thus, Verbena starts this Tuesday the 11th, at 6:00 p.m., with the presentation of the anthology 'Dos Verbenas, Tres Verbenas', which includes texts from the participants in the second and third editions. The presentation will be given by Lana Corujo and David Machado. At 6.30 pm, the book 'They Will Still Hunt Tonight' by Ale Coello will be presented, with the collaboration of Juli Mesa, and will feature a small stage representation. Also this Tuesday, the artistic intervention 'Diqui, Diqui, a chest full of cockroaches' by Juli Mesa will be inaugurated in the La Salita exhibition space of El Almacén. This visual project can be visited until September 28.

Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 will be dedicated to the poetry workshop Following the heart. Rewriting love in poetry, which will be taught by Juanpe Sánchez López. Registration for this activity has already been completed. On Friday, the day will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the conversation The family structure in Latin America between María Limón and Alejandro Marín. Then, at 7:30 p.m., Juanpe Sánchez López and Carlos Alayón will do the same in the conversation The vindication of tenderness: writings from love and pop.

Saturday the 15th will be an intense day of activities that will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the conversation The landscape rises: wild fear in literature, by María de la Cruz and Beatriz Morales. This talk will take as its starting point the collection of poems We cross through the edge of the mountain by María de la Cruz. Then, at 8:00 p.m., there will be a final round of impressions of this third edition. From 9:00 p.m., as a final touch to the meeting, a small verbena will be offered in the Bar Picasso of the Almacén, in which musical classics of dance music will be performed, by the interpretations of Janet Rey and Nyno Artiles.

All Verbena activities are free and free until full capacity. During the event, merchandising will be distributed free of charge, including bags, postcards and copies of the book Dos Verbenas, Tres Verbenas while supplies last.
