To mark the 106th anniversary of the birth of César Manrique, the S.C.R.D. Torrelavega organized a concert on Thursday night in which the presentation of the album Towards Life, by the young singer-songwriter Julia Rodríguez from Majorera, took place.

The management of Torrelavega has always kept César Manrique very much in mind as a cultural reference, without forgetting that he was also a founding member, participating with exhibitions and conferences held in the society's premises, the same one that will receive the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands on May 30, awarded by the Government of the Canary Islands for its 80 years championing culture.

After the welcoming words of the president Toñín Ramos, the concert of Julia Rodríguez began, who very excited went on the stage of Torrelavega accompanied by three friends and great musicians to present her first album Towards Life, with a total of six songs, four of them composed by Julia herself and in only two compositions she has the collaboration of composer friends.

Julia Rodríguez was born into a family with a great musical tradition where music has been present throughout her life. She has trained in Jazz singing at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia, with Carmen Canela and Ana Finger, and also has complementary studies in Canarian timple, transverse flute, Venezuelan cuatro or guitar. Despite her youth, Julia has spent a lifetime on stage, and has led her to play throughout the Canary archipelago, Barcelona, Mexico, Uruguay, etc.

Julia conquered the audience with her spontaneity, charm, and rapport, getting the audience to participate by clapping and humming some of the refrains of her songs, leaving for the end the song that gives title to her album Towards Life, which reflects the illusions of the man who leaves his place of origin looking for a better future that says: With a sack of hope, the man has to leave, looking without giving up to balance the scales.

Avoiding the delay with a lost look and with excessive force, they plan to undertake, and embarked, they travel the road towards life. With the audience standing, Julia Rodríguez and her team left the stage very happy and grateful for the applause and expressions of affection towards them. The act ended with the signing of the album.
