The Afilarmónica Los Simplones Murga won the first phase of the XXXVI Arrecife Carnival Adult Murgas Contest by obtaining the ‘Presentation’ award as well as the first prize in the ‘Fantasy, Design and Costume’ category, in which Los Desahuciados and Las Inadaptadas took second and third prize, respectively.
The performances of these three murgas along with those of Las Enraladas and Los Intoxicados made a again packed Recinto Ferial of Arrecife live a night of pure Carnival loaded with criticism, humor, and artistic creativity both in the lyrics and in the costumes and staging of each of the participating murgas
Fantasies and songs
‘Arrr, Simpleton in sight!’, designed by the troupe itself, was the fantasy that gave the title in said category to Los Simplones, who under the musical direction of Quyke Martín and Xerach Casanova performed the songs ‘For any emergency, my survival kit’ and ‘The concerts of San Ginés’.Designed by Juan Marín, Los Desahuciados sported the fantasy ‘Let the game begin, this year I’ll eat you’ and performed under the musical direction of Adrián Hernández ‘The mirror of reality’ and ‘A crazy theme’.
'I made a spell with magic and sweetness, I arrived at Agramar.. no party. I made a potion with the shine of the moon, I returned to the Enclosure.. huh? ... did their luck run out??' was the title of the fantasy, with its own design, by Las Inadaptadas who performed under the musical direction of Raquel Cabrera 'Drawing an animated song' and 'If you want to know, I'll show you'.
Las Enraladas took the stage with the fantasy ‘No one became strong without difficult battles, so fighting and getting tangled, we have arrived at Carnival’, designed by Francis García, and under the musical direction of Miriam Hernández they performed ‘Our greatest treasures’ and ‘A game to explore reality’.
The Intoxicados performed last with the fantasy ‘Forger of winds of a very weathervane Carnival’, designed by Naira Luis. Under the musical direction of Cristina Marrero they performed ‘The filters’ and ‘In my bar everything seems normal, until it’s time to review the VAR’.
Second phase
Hosted by Francisco José Navarro and Carmen Nieves Pérez, with the support of Leandro Martín from backstage, at the conclusion of the gala, in which comedian Jacobo Santiago also participated, the order of performances was drawn for the second phase of the Contest, which will be held this Friday and in which the name of the winning murga in the ‘Interpretation, Lyrics and Music’ category will also be announced.
After the draw, Las Inadaptadas, Los Intoxicados, Los Simplones, Las Enraladas, and Los Desahuciados will perform in this order in this second phase of the XXXVI Adult Murga Contest of the Arrecife Carnival, organized by the Department of Festivals of the City Council of the Lanzarote capital, headed by the deputy mayor of the city, Echedey Eugenio
