A total of 18 folk groups, nine parrandas, seven choirs, four ranchos de Pascua and a classical orchestra will bring music and color to Christmas in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The second edition of the musical program 'Navidad Isleña' will once again bring carols, folklore and popular songs to every corner of both islands. The concerts are organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, with the collaboration of the seven town councils, so that the Culture Area of the first institution is responsible for hiring the groups, while the town councils are responsible for coordinating the dates and places of the performances in their respective municipalities.

Specifically, under the name 'Navidad Isleña: Música. Danza. Canto tradicional', almost 40 concerts will take place, which will begin on December 1 in Haría (at the CSC of Máguez) and end on December 29 with two performances in Tinajo (Plaza de San Roque) and in La Graciosa.

The objective is none other than to "bring culture and popular music throughout Lanzarote and La Graciosa". "A song to Christmas, but also to folklore and traditional dance. It supports music by spreading it, while at the same time putting an interesting cultural offer on the table for citizens," said the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, on Monday at the press conference for the presentation of the 2018 edition.

"Last year, in the first edition of Navidad Isleña, the balance was extraordinarily positive and the reception among the groups and the town councils was excellent. There was some error, as is normal, but this year the suggestions of the groups and the municipalities have been taken into account to try to avoid them," concluded the president.

For his part, the Minister of Culture of the Cabildo, Óscar Pérez, pointed out that for this 2018 "the expectations are even better than those of last year". "In that sense, we from the Cabildo must once again thank the musical and cultural groups and the seven town councils for their involvement in making this project a success," he added.
