This Friday, June 13, the residents of Tías celebrated the festival of San Antonio de Padua as tradition dictates

At 6:00 p.m., the parishioners gathered, filling the permitted capacity of the church to participate in the Eucharist. A mass that on this occasion was presided over by the parish priest of San Ginés in Arrecife, Juan Carlos Medina, assisted by the titular parish priest of Tías, recently arrived in the community, Leonardo Graterol, who felt very excited and supported by the parishioners.

Once the Eucharist was finished, the procession began, headed by the 'Unión Musical de Lanzarote' Music Band, which with its chords accompanied the tour along the Central Avenue of Tías. The image of San Antonio de Padua was surrounded by the celebrating priests, authorities presided over by the mayor of the municipality, José Juan Cruz, and the parishioners. In a festive atmosphere, they made the entire journey until their return to the church where the members of the Gaida de Tías Association were waiting to offer their offering with the most traditional of Canarian songs and dances that were greatly applauded by the public, thus putting the finishing touch to the festival of San Antonio de Padua.
