The Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote, fulfilling the series of concerts scheduled until next July in the José Saramago Room of the César Manrique Foundation in La Plazuela, last Saturday was the turn for the Polyphonic Choir of the University of La Laguna, Tenerife, a mixed choir directed by Julio Chinea. As has been customary since this series of concerts began, the protagonists of the concerts usually offer a preview called "Petit Concert" at 12 noon in the same Plazuela, which is followed with great expectation by the public that passes through the area at that time of the morning.

The Polyphonic Choir of the University of La Laguna called its concert "In Body and Soul", which consisted of two parts. For the first of these, its director, Julio Chinea, chose a repertoire of sacred music with a selection of pieces that jump from era, from time, with authors so different that they pursue the same idea such as Pavel Tschesnokoff, Sergio Rodríguez, Josep Vila, Ola Gleijo or Albert Alcaraz, among others. From them they chose the compositions, Spaseniye Sodela, Tota Pulchra es, Sanctus Benedictus, Ubi Caritas, etc. For the second part, called profane, compositions by authors such as Lenon and Macartney, Miguel Matamoros, Pat Ballard or Rosa Mª Teruel, among others, were chosen, and selecting songs as well known as Yesterday, Son de la Loma, Mr. Sandman, And now you want Forgiveness, ending with Segalariak by Josu Elberdin. 

Before leaving the stage, the spokesman thanked the audience for attending the concert as well as the warm welcome that made them feel at home. He also valued the qualities of the Saramago room as very positive, both in space and acoustics. To all this, the public responded with their applause, receiving as a prize one of the most hummed songs by the Canarians such as Islas Canarias, for this occasion with arrangements by the director, Julio Chinea, putting the finishing touch to the concert called "In Body and Soul".

The next concert will be on Saturday, May 13 at 8:30 p.m. with Tango para Cinco y Tangatos, with "Living the Tango".
