The exhibition hall of the Ermita de San Antonio in Tías was the place chosen by Nino Díaz to carry out the presentation of the Foundation that bears his name. The act began with the intervention of Nino Díaz himself, who was "very happy for the great attendance of people related to culture in all areas, also from politics, as well as family and friends who filled the capacity.
Díaz explained that the Nino Díaz Foundation is a "non-profit organization, endowed with its own initial assets granted by its founder and which pursues the purposes contemplated in its corporate purpose, such as promoting activities, studies and initiatives that address the relationships between music, culture and contemporary thought." Among many other projects is also the one to "preserve, study and disseminate the work and legacy of Nino Díaz." It also has a great professional, the musicologist Marina Hervás present at the event.
The mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, and the Councilor for Culture, Amado Vizcaíno, pledged to "support the project within the possibilities." From the City Council they positively valued the initiative of the neighbor of Tías, "which will be another reference for culture not only in the municipality of Tías but also for Lanzarote."
As Díaz himself stated, "this project that is presented today is the result of a laborious work that has been managed for ten years, counting for it with many professionals who will contribute to maturing it." Marina Hervás will be responsible for directing the biannual Music and Thought magazine. To get started, several concerts are already scheduled from October to December.
The Nino Díaz Foundation is based in Camino de Los Lirios 37 in Tías with a project to settle in the central area of the town. The presentation ceremony ended with the concert of the clarinetists, Laura Sáchez and Iván González.
Nino Díaz is a graduate of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Barcelona in the specialties of Clarinet, Composition and Instrumentation and Orchestra Conducting, in addition to an official Master's Degree in Cultural Management from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona.
