On the occasion of the feast of Saint Rita of Cascia, patron saint of impossible causes and lost causes, the residents of the town of Tao, in the municipality of Teguise, gathered at 8:00 PM in the town church, which was completely full, to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist.

The religious ceremony was presided over by the parish priest of San Bartolomé and Tinajo, Francisco José García, in a very participatory celebration, accompanied by the liturgical chants and readings specific to this feast.

During the homily, the parish priest reminded the parishioners of some passages from the life of Saint Rita of Cascia, popularly known as the patron saint of the impossible, of the desperate, and of lost causes, to whom her devotees turn for help and solutions in times of anguish. He also referred to the three miracles that were necessary for her canonization.

After the Eucharist, which took place in an atmosphere of deep reflection and participation, the procession of the image of Saint Rita of Cascia took place through the streets of the town of Tao, led by the venerated image, followed by the celebrating priest and numerous faithful, among whom were also some councilors from the Teguise City Council, led by the First Deputy Mayor Rita Hernández Callero, who, true to her appointment, attends every year to thank her Patron Saint.

Upon the return of the procession, the members of the Coral Polifónica Villa de Teguise, directed by Professor Nuvi Tavio, performed several compositions that were highly applauded by the attending audience.

The day concluded with the tasting of a hot chocolate shared among all attendees, thus putting the finishing touch to a very special day in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia, on which residents of Tao and visitors attended, one more year, with respect and emotion; some to ask for help and others to thank for favors received.
