Last Saturday, the Teatro Cine Atlántida hall hosted the Charity Gala in favor of Afibrolan, the Fibromyalgia Association of Lanzarote, and the Spanish Association against Cancer in Lanzarote.
The gala began with welcome speeches by the presidents of the two associations, María Dolores Lasso Cabrera (Cancer), and Paula Lago (Afibrolan). Their first words to the audience were of gratitude for their presence at the gala, thus supporting the project that both associations are carrying out to improve the health of each of the patients. They also remembered the commercial firms for their involvement in carrying out the event.
Aquilino García, director of the gala, also thanked all the artists for their willingness to set aside personal commitments to perform in such a special gala.
Those in charge of starting the musical performances were the 8 members of the Elysian Group formed by the soloists Almudena Hernández, Montse Medina and Israel López, accompanied by Cielo Guzmán on piano, Acorán Ramos on bass, Genaro Pérez on percussion and Ivanhoe Rodríguez, guitar and direction. They performed Hoy como Ayer, Al otro lado del Río, Soledad y el Mar and finished with Bajamar.
Next, the siblings Juanma Padrón, voice and guitar, and Asenet, voice, performed. The siblings' intervention began with Asenet performing the songs, Algo Contigo and Piensa en Mi, continuing Juanma with Mi pequeña María and ending with airs of folías performed as a duet.
For a few minutes the music stopped playing to give way to humor that came from the hand of the comedian from Gran Canaria, Jaime Marrero, showcasing a very personal vision of humor, more focused on telling stories than on easy jokes. Marrero managed to make the public forget for a few minutes the problems that, on one side and the other, are making it increasingly difficult for humanity to crack a smile.
The music returned to the stage this time by the young Dácil Suárez from Gran Canaria, a benchmark of the show. As a child, she began in the world of music with her own mother as a reference, whom she listened to singing songs related to the copla at home. Dácil has records that allow her to interpret any genre she proposes and proof of this was her performance on the night with songs such as Un año de Amor, Cómo han pasado los Años or Vivir así es morir de Amor, a song to which the public joined their voices singing it almost completely.
The closing of the gala was given by the Tenerife singer Chago Melián, who came from Puna del Hidalgo. He is considered one of the best soloists in the Canary Islands and one more year he responded to the solidarity call giving the best of himself interpreting the following songs Querencias, Patria Canaria, O´sole Mío and a Symphonic Folía performed as a duet with Juanma Padrón. He finished his performance with the presence of all the artists and collaborators on stage performing the song Mi tierra Guanche. The public applauded each of the artists in their performances and stood up to say goodbye.
A night where solidarity was the winner.
