Bhakti is a Hindu religious movement that emphasizes a devotee's love for God. It refers to a way of understanding life, religion, art and society that breaks with established norms and brings divinity closer to any devotee who wishes it, without the need to have great philosophical studies.

Bhakti is also the name of the show framed in the program of the Lanzarote Performing Arts Festival with which the company of the actress, dancer and choreographer Mónica de la Fuente, specialized in performing arts of India, merges dance, sounds, smells and flavors of the Asian giant to show one of the most traditional, exotic and enigmatic cultures on the planet.

De la Fuente, the musician Ravi Prasad and the sitarist Subrata De star in a suggestive ceremony that mixes Bharata Natyam dance, one of the oldest forms of that country linked to the cult performed by sacred dancers in the temples, with the sounds of Carnatic classical music inspired by the Vedas and sacred texts, along with poems by Tagore, San Juan de la Cruz and José Ángel Valente, in a surprising explosion of color, spirituality and harmony that opens doors to new languages of movement and contemporary expression.

In order to make the experience totally immersive and the attendees can take away an unforgettable memory, the Centers have created a special menu for the occasion that integrates some of the characteristic flavors and smells of that country, composed of Pea samosa with potato, turmeric and tandoori, as an aperitif; Steamed prawn salad seasoned with mango chutney, crispy Iberian ham and cherry tomato, as a starter; Salmon taco with coconut milk and curry, sautéed vegetables and steamed potatoes or Canarian pork with sweet potato puree, sweet chili, crispy papadam and roasted spring onion, to choose from, as a main course, and Coconut Barfi, as dessert.

Bhakti will be performed next Saturday, November 30, starting at 8:00 p.m., at the Casa-Museo del Campesino.

The prices to attend Bhakti are 50 or 62 euros per person, depending on the proximity to the stage of the table where you dine and enjoy the show.
