The La Asomada festivities in honor of San José Obrero officially kicked off this Thursday with the reading of the proclamation by Antonio Betancort Ramos and the performance of Adrián Niz, Rayco Hernández and Pedro Manuel Afonso on guitar, timple and voice. The proclaimer offered a "tribute to our grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents of the town of La Asomada," reports the Yaiza City Council.
The celebration, which had begun with the ball, envite and chinchón championships, in addition to bingo, handball tournament and workshops related to health and emotional well-being, continues during the afternoon and evening of this Friday with "a magic workshop, the traditional sweet and savory dessert tasting contest, the song festival and a dance enlivened by Los Jarvac."
For this Saturday, the I La Asomada Children's Trail Race, the foam party, the XIV Montaña de Gaida Folk Meeting with the performance of Güerma, La Villa de Agüime and Sondemar, as well as the verbena, enlivened by the Bomba de Fuerteventura group and DJ Javi Fajardo, have been planned. Next Sunday there will be bouncy castles, a concert by Los Lola, a popular barbecue, awards ceremony, verbena with the Pal'Porrón and Wamampy de La Gomera band and fireworks, the Consistory reports.
Next Monday, April 24, the big day of the festivities, the religious function and procession will be held in honor of San José Obrero, accompanied by the Unión Musical de Lanzarote band and, later, the Gaida folk group will perform. In the evening, the great gala will take place with Marcos García and Ainara Soto (national sports dance champions), the Lanzarote singer Mikaela Romero and the Palmeran comedian Petite Lorena, they confirm.
