This Saturday, October 5, at 12:00 noon, the opening of the exhibition Against Oblivion. Drawings 1972-2023, by the Lanzarote painter and illustrator Santiago Alemán Valls (Lanzarote, 1952) will take place in the El Aljibe Hall of Haría.
The exhibition is a production of the Data Center of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which was already exhibited between July and September 2023 in La Casa Amarilla and now arrives in Haría thanks to the collaboration of the Cabildo with the City Council of the town.
The exhibition collects the last 50 years of graphic work by Alemán, with illustrations and drawings by the author in a great diversity of formats and techniques, with social vindication and denunciation as a common thread. His work deals with issues such as the progressive deterioration of natural, cultural and architectural heritage, or human issues such as immigration or loneliness.
A relevant part of this exhibition is made up of the so-called Black Series, which address all these issues of social importance and which aesthetically show the recognized influence of Goya in the author's work.
Against Oblivion. Drawings 1972-2023 is curated by Mario Ferrer and Rubén Acosta and its graphic design is the responsibility of Carmen Corujo.
The opening ceremony is expected to be attended by Santiago Alemán himself, the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture of the Haría City Council, Evelia García, and the Councilor of the Data Center and La Casa Amarilla of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo.
