Technicians and operators from the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism and from the awarded company Cierres Enrollables - Puertas Automáticas Lanzarote (CEPAL) have begun this Friday the work of **replacement of the salt mill next to the Castle of San José**, with the assembly of the wooden structure for the support of the turbineAs will be recalled, the historic piece underwent restoration work due to its advanced deterioration. This intervention has included the construction of new blades, rotor, weather vane systems, and stainless steel connecting rod-crank transmission, as well as a "Y"-shaped support piece for the crankshaft coupling. Likewise, the support pillars have been revised and reinforced with the aim of guaranteeing the stability of the structureThe Councilor of the Entity, Ángel Vázquez, has thanked "the excellent work" developed by both the staff of the Tourist Centers and the specialized company to "recover an important symbol of the maritime history and the ethnographic heritage of Arrecife".The second phase of the replacement of the piece, which includes the assembly of the mill's turbine on the wooden structure installed today, will take place during the morning of next Tuesday, February 10

The project has had a budget of 80,000 euros.

Currently, the mill constitutes one of the last vestiges of an activity that was key in the economic development of the island
