On Friday night at 8:00 PM, the Timple Museum House in Teguise hosted the presentation of two fundamental works for the academic and artistic consolidation of the Canarian timple: Works for Timple and Guitar, by Benito Cabrera, and Historical Repertoire for Timple, by David Duque, both published by the Canarian Timple Association.
The event brought together a large audience that filled the hall of the House-Museum despite the inclement weather, confirming the interest in the most representative instrument of the Canary Islands and in the creation of quality pedagogical and artistic materials.
The evening opened with institutional speeches led by Germán López, president of the Canarian Timple Association, who highlighted the historical role of the Canarian Timple Association in promoting and dignifying the instrument. This was followed by speeches from Andoni Machín, Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, who emphasized the municipality's role as a benchmark for the timple, and Migdalia Machín, Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, who highlighted institutional support for music education and repertoire creation.
In the second part of the event, the authors themselves presented their books. **David Duque** explained the approach of *Repertorio histórico para timple* (Historical Repertoire for Timple), a rigorous investigation into the sources, styles, and evolution of the instrument, which expands available musicological knowledge and offers an organized corpus for performers and scholars.Meanwhile, Benito Cabrera explained the concept behind Obras para timple y guitarra, a volume that brings together fourteen advanced pieces conceived as a true duo between both instruments, with balanced writing that combines Canarian roots and contemporary projection. The publication responds to the need for solid repertoire following the incorporation of the timple into the Professional Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands. The closing of the event was in the hands of two young performers, **Norberto Arrocha** (timple) and **Aarón Vera** (guitar), who offered a musical showcase with works by composers such as José Antonio Ramos and Germán López, alternating and dialoguing between the two instruments and demonstrating the high interpretive level of the new generation of timple players. After the performance, the audience was able to purchase copies and get the authors' signatures, in a friendly atmosphere that reinforced the project's lively and communal character
With these publications, the Canarian Timple Association reaffirms its commitment to the preservation, updating, and promotion of the timple, consolidating it as a reference instrument in the traditional, academic, and professional spheres.
