The Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote was the place chosen, on the morning of this Friday, for the presentation of a new edition of Across Hip-Hop Lanzarote, a project focused on the teaching of urban dances with the aim of deepening the social and cultural education of young people between 13 and 20 years old on the island.

The Culture Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alberto Aguiar, expressed during the act that "this is an important day for training towards youth because we are presenting a new edition of this important project that seeks to promote and integrate values of integration, teamwork, discipline and respect among young people through urban dance."

Aguiar thanked the collaboration of the municipalities of Arrecife, San Bartolome and Tías, the latter being added as a venue for the workshops that will be taught within the program. "Across Hip-Hop grows this year with the incorporation of one more municipality and will continue to grow in the coming years, as we set ourselves the goal of insularizing cultural projects," explained the councilor.

Organized and financed by the Culture area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Across Hip-Hop Lanzarote is produced by Qué Tal Estás Producciones and directed by Natalia Medina. During the presentation, the director detailed that the project will last four months, starting next Monday and ending on June 17 with a joint performance of all the groups at the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater "El Salinero". In addition to the urban dance workshops, there will be associated activities such as masterclasses and audiovisual projections in the dance centers. From the Cabildo of Lanzarote, an effort will also be made to grant tickets to the participants to bring the spaces and cultural works closer to the youngest.

Urban dance as a social vehicle

Across Hip-Hop Lanzarote offers young people the opportunity to approach urban dance, learn about the tasks required to launch a real show and experience performing before the public to present the final show, the product of the work done during the four months of classes. Through dance, this pedagogical project instills the values of integration, respect, communication, tolerance and health.

Its purpose is to bring urban dance closer to the young people of Lanzarote, this project being the link, where they share learning, effort, discipline, companionship and enthusiasm, enhancing skills, promoting values and creating a sense of belonging to the group.

This is a pedagogical project that tries to instill integration, respect, communication, tolerance and health by bringing young people with the same interests into contact, within the island of Lanzarote. Educating through Hip-Hop is a way to enhance the taste for urban culture, opening doors to new forms of expression, providing a space where young people from the island of Lanzarote can show their artistic and cultural concerns.
