Arrecife revived this Saturday morning - with a street parade that went from the Fishery Pier to the Music Kiosk - its Traditional Port Carnival at the hands of the emblematic Marinera de Los Buches Troupe, recognized with the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands for its contribution to the cultural heritage of the city and of the entire Canary Archipelago.

The event was attended by both the mayor, Yonathan de León, and the deputy mayor and councilor for Fiestas, Echedey Eugenio, who thanked Los Buches "for their extraordinary work in preserving the cultural heritage and the city's identity"; as well as other public representatives, among whom the presence of the presidents of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stood out.

The tour - which took place amidst the chords of the Buenos Aires music of Los Buches and the usual *buchasos* that they dispensed to the numerous audience present - featured other traditional characters of the Arrecife Carnival such as the masked figures dressed in white sheets, the giants and big-heads, the Charlot of Lanzarote, the Old Woman of Parsley, the Orthodox Pope or the shipowner Fermina, to whom this year were also added Los Diabletes de Teguise and the Bull of Tiagua, invited by the Parranda Marinera

Once the Music Kiosk in José Ramírez Cerdá Park was reached, the procession - in which the Canarian Latin sail and artisanal fishing, so tied to the history of Arrecife, were also represented with the presence of a small boat - Los Buches continued with their songs, dances, and buchasos, Los Diabletes scared, and girls and boys played the piñata, as a way to also revive traditional games of the capital

Before continuing on the way to Plaza de Las Palmas where the Traditional Carnival would end, the president of the Parranda Marinera, Juan Antonio Machado, wished a healthy enjoyment of the Carnival to the "gurfines del Puerto" - traditional demonym of the people of Arrecife - and in allusion to the presence of Los Diabletes and El Toro de Tiagua "this time also to the trompeteros", colloquial demonym of the people of Teguise
