With the Lanzarote International Film Festival concluded, this week there are two opportunities to view the winning shorts from all categories. In addition, the La Destiladera initiative of Tenique Cultural continues to project images of the history of Lanzarote and water in Arrecife, Teguise and Yaiza.
For music lovers, the week is full of concerts, many celebrating Canary Islands Day. Acatife in Yaiza, the Cool Moon Fest in Tías, Los Sabandeños in Arrecife, Besay Pérez in Teguise and Hirari Afonso in Haría.
In the talks section, Haría hosts a conversation about the first Ambassador of Cuba and his origins in Lanzarote.

Kepler Sexto B. Lanzarote Youth Cinema
Cine Juventud Lanzarote presents Kepler Sexto B, a work in which imagination becomes a refuge. Zaida is a lonely girl who lives with her stepfather in a humble neighborhood, and her peculiar neighbor Jonás, a Quixote of science fiction, who believes that his apartment is a spaceship on a strange and distant planet.

Film Festival. The winners
On May 28 and 29, El Almacén will relive the screening of the award-winning short films at the XXV Edition of the Lanzarote International Film Festival, as well as an exclusive selection of the best works that have participated in the different sections of this year. Distillery. Lanzarote revealed
The Tenique Cultural association returns for another year with this popular initiative aimed at recovering, projecting and analyzing old films from Lanzarote. This year's theme revolves around the phenomenon of water by the hand of the Tenerife filmmaker Dailo Barco.

The first Ambassador of Cuba was from Lanzarote
The Cuban historian Mario Luis López Isla will talk about his latest book focused on the figure of José Morales Lemus (1805-1870), considered the first Cuban Ambassador. His birth has the appearance of a legend. His parents were from Lanzarote and some place his birth on that island, others on a ship in the high seas, since his father was the captain, and others on board this in the Cuban bay of Gibara, in Holguín.

Hirahi Afonso
Hirahi Afonso represents a new generation of Canarian musicians who fuse tradition with innovation. Hirahi is a timplista, yes. But he is not a timplista in the traditional sense. At the age of 16 he moved to Barcelona, where he studied guitar, and has played with great artists such as Judith Neddermann or Silvia Pérez Cruz. He has won three Canary Islands music awards. Best album in 2021 and 2024, as well as best song also last year.
