The Berlin group Ensemble Mosaik was the last of the groups to perform at the El Salinero theater on Saturday night, on the occasion of the 33rd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands. Ensemble Mosaik has become a well-known contemporary music group since its founding 20 years ago.
Its members are not only characterized by their instrumental skills, but also by their creative ability and experimental will. Over the course of many years of cooperation, they have created an orchestra with a distinct profile, demonstrating an openness to the most diverse concepts of contemporary music at the highest artistic level, a musical genre that the public will not easily find in stable classical music programs.
The public that came to the El Salinero theater followed very closely this concert in which digital media were used in the areas of interpretation and presentation. This is an innovative method and for some "somewhat strange." And, as the great experts say, contemporary music is highly conceptual.
The concert consisted of two parts. The first with pieces by Johan Svensson, Alberto Posadas and Leandro A. Martín, while the second featured compositions by Ricardo Eizirik and Enno Poppe. Ensemble Mosaik is listed as a multifaceted and experimental formation within the genre of current contemporary music.
